On December 5 Nicole Richie, American actress, singer, model and television personality visited our studio. Nicole met children from the boarding school #4 and was impressed by their paintings and clay articles. We showed our guest around the studio and played “Kalinka-Malinka” for her with our jug band. Nicole spent some time drawing and playing with children. It was interesting for them to learn that Nicole has 11-month-old daughter. At parting we gave to the American star a clay giraffe as a present.

On December 3 Nashy Deti, Nasha Shkola Co Ltd. gave us plenty of Dobriy juice as a present. So now the children enjoy this delicious and healthy juice when they come for studies.  

On Maria’s Children website Internet shop has been finally opened. Now you can shop on-line and buy our cards, magnets, calendars and author’s works.

On November 14^th Maria’s Children traditional November charitable fundraising “Auction” took place. The auctioneer was as usually the Great Patch Adams. The Katerina Hotel hosted this event at its beautiful premises, and Rosinter restaurants served all participants with delicious dinner. We would like to thank our partners and friends. It was true celebration for children and adults, for clowns and serious people, for artists and fans of their arts. It was an occasion for us to introduce great work and achievements of Maria’s Children and share our plans for future.

We have wonderful friends at the Pyano theatre at Nizhniy Novgorod School for the deaf.  On November, 8 the theatre came to Moscow on a tour and his founders and art directors Vladimir and Marina Chikishev invited us to the show “Kings of Rain”. The children’s acting is unique. Their mumming is so expressive that it gives an absolutely new and deeper understanding of hand-language and pantomime.

On November 3 children from boarding-school #7 visited Clownery Theatre of Theresa Durov and saw a very cheerful and interesting show “Doctor Aybolit Returns” on motives of fairy tales by Russian writer Korney Chukovskiy. 

On November 4 – 9 the 12^th annual exhibition of our children’s art works was held in the Central House of Artists. We are thankful to CAF Foundation, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Russian Children Aid Society for financial support of the exhibition.

From November 11 till December 7 the exhibition was opened in the hall of Moscow Museum of Modern Art. On November 12 about 200 children came to the opening celebration of the exhibition. Children from different boarding-schools prepared a concert. Also there was a buffet lunch thanks to our old friends from Rossinter Company. Our grateful thanks to museum administration and personally to Vassiliy Tsereteli, the director, for the hall provided for free. Thank you to all museum employees for their kindness, patience and attention to our children.

Both exhibitions demonstrated individual and collective works: paintings, panel-paintings, ceramics and sewing. During the days of exhibitions children had an opportunity to attend art classes at museums to draw and examine museum expositions.

There is a wonderful non-governmental non-commercial organization Medical Wings International (www.medicalwings.org ). It was established in USA by Glenda Johnson who works at American Airlines. Volunteers of Medical Wings International are doctors of various specialties, they come to different countries during their weekends to provide kids with medical assistance. This time they came to Moscow, and on September 13 and 14 they provide services to kids from orphanages №№80 and 28.

The bike ride, a short concert and awarding ceremony as usual took place on Red Square. Maria’s children group is very happy to participate for the fifth year already.
